the MAgoolies (@magooliegang) are an inspiring group of lyricists
from different sections of Philly. The quality of music differs heavily
from the usual hip hop content of Philadelphia rappers. The MAGoolies rebel
against the overtly “gangsta” and the annoyingly fashionable rapper
microcosms within the city which of course draws a critical eye and causes
the idea of a feud to loom over the heads of the members. In all due
honesty they do not make music for the Louis Vuitton dapper hipsters or the
skinny jean pessimists that strictly enthuse everybody that trapping is the
divine route to success. The only way to classify the group is as ….
simply different. The members (@BanJoe_Kazooie, @abish_cable,
@BigBlackAfricka, & @XanyBrainyMAG) are influenced by diverse talents
within music, film, and television and the content of the music reflects
such influences (references to heroin addicted jazz musicians, retro
Saturday morning cartoons, and even comparisons of the group to The Five
Heartbeats on a constant basis).

snowflake – Gloria (angel mix DoKashiteru)

I had this foggy vision of creating an ambient/electronic mash-up of Silent Night & Angels We Have Heard on High, and without sounding religious. I listened to tracks on ccMixter for days…and when I heard Yiourgh by DoKashiteru, I held my breath! It was perfect. DoKashiteru’s amazing track created the perfect framework for this piece (peace!)…and it just sort of wrote itself. Doubling DoKashiteru’s genius piano part was challenging because I play all my tracks live – I am ignorant and afraid of midi and quantization :/ Thanks to all of you for the incredible remixes submitted so far – I am so emotional about it. Georgia electro dance group FLT RSK (Flight Risk)

Athens based trio, FLT RSK (pronounced “Flight Risk”) released its debut album, digitally on their website. The album People and Places co-recorded at dreamLab Studios in Athens and Piper St. Studio in Atlanta, features eight tracks with guest appearances from Lera Lynn and Priceless the Kid.

FLT RSK is comprised of Matt Woolley (Drums), Matt Mansfield (Bass) and JB Lawrence (Synths). Those familiar with the Athens music scene since the early 2000′s may recognize Woolley and Mansfield for their collective efforts in the successful and well known group DubConscious.
